EXPO 2018

  • Information for Talks in Track Sessions

Talks will be organised in track sessions. 

  • Presenters with similar presentation topics will be gathered into one track and present in one session (same classroom).

  • Each session will last around an hour.

  • Discussion of the track will be held after presentations.

  • Each presenter will be given about 15 minutes presentation time. 


Submit Presentation Video (optional)

  • It is optional for successful applicants to submit a short presentation video. All submitted videos will be made available to the public BEFORE the event day.

 
Paper Submission (optional)

  • It is optional for successful applicants to submit a short paper (4-6 pages). All submitted papers will be published on Expo website.


NOTES ON PREPARING THE TALK
 

  1. Arrangement of the talk sessions

    • The venue and time of your session will be confirmed 2 weeks after your successful application.

    • Please arrive at the room 10 minutes before the session.

    • The following equipment will be provided in each classroom: a Windows desktop which is connectable to the internet, projector, visualiser and microphone.

    • At 5 minutes and 1 minute to the end of your presentation part/ Q & A part, the session chair will give you a signal for the time left by raising a sign.
       

  2. Designing your presentation materials

    • The presentation materials can be in any type (slides/ poster/ notes, etc) and in any commonly-used format (e.g. .ppt, .doc, .pdf, .jpg).

    • Make sure you have information about the presentation topic, name of the author(s) and affiliation on the presentation materials.

    • It is suggested to have the content more concise by focusing on a few main points using clear and sufficient graphics.

    • The acknowledgement of the source of funding (if applicable) should be noted on the presentation materials.
       

  3. Supplementary materials to be considered

    • Additional materials are preferred so as to assist participants to understand your innovative materials/ studies. This is a good opportunity to disseminate your work.
       

  4. Facilitation

    • You can authorise other people to facilitate your session(s) if you have problems to attend. In this case, you are recommended to inform the Expo team about the arrangements as soon as possible.
       

  5. Submission of backup of presentation materials to the Expo team

    • Presenters can bring their presentation files to the presentation room at the day of event. To make sure your files are compatible with the presentation software on the location, it is strongly advised that you send the files (e.g. ppt, .doc, .pdf, .jpg) electronically to expo@cuhk.edu.hk  by 3 December 2018. If your files are bigger than 15MB, we suggest you send us the shareable link via your cloud storage platform (e.g. Office 365 OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive…).

    • We also strongly encourage teachers to upload a backup copy of their presentation files on their cloud storage platform.

 

 

NOTES ON PREPARING SHORT VIDEO

  1. Length and content

    • The length of the video should be within 3 minutes.

    • Purpose of the video is to give viewer a quick introduction of the work done.

    • No video editing services will be provided to presenters.

  2. Publication

    • All submitted videos will be made available to the public BEFORE the event day.

  3. Submitting your video

    • Upload the video file on your cloud storage platform (e.g. Office 365 OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive…) and send us the shareable link to download it.

    • All late submissions after 22 November 2018 might not able to be released on or before the event day.

 
NOTES ON SUBMITTING PAPER

  • The digital copy of your paper should be submitted by 22 November 2018.
